Fragrant choices

Fragrance designer Mindy Yang says the sense of smell is the strongest of all our senses and creating your own pleasant surroundings can help you relax and unwind. Here she offers a few suggestions for those wanting to create ambient scents in their own spaces.

For a foyer, she suggests 'warm and inviting woody florals or ambers'.

Heaven scent: French perfumer Diptyque uses wick appeal to play with our emotions

Diptyque now has a local address. The French perfumer best known for its scented candles opened its first boutique in Asia at Central's IFC mall on Friday.

Plenty of celebrity fans came along to show their support, including models Lisa Selesner and Vanessa Yeung, designer Barney Cheng and singer Karen Mok Man-wai's mother, Eleanor Morris.

Launch of fragrance makes perfect scents for Gloria ... apart from the goose bumps

It was everything girly for the launch of Marc Jacobs' new fragrance, Daisy, at East hotel's Sugar bar in Taikoo Shing on Friday.

The venue was decorated with colourful floral wall stickers.

Pink mousse cake lollipops, daisy-shaped canap?s and fruity pink bubbly drinks were served, with a large queue forming at the frozen yogurt machine.

The founder of Editions de Parfums was in town for a Monday meet-and-greet at Joyce Beauty in Central and a very nose-in-the-air lunch yesterday with the town's society ladies, teaching them the subtleties of the olfactory system, by bringing along a 3-metre-high 'smelling column'.
