Jockey Howard Cheng Yue-tin and trainer Me Tsui Yu-sak enjoyed the sweet smell of success for the first time with Scent Of Osmanthus claiming the MacWhinnie Cup (1,400m). The horse overpowered Breeze Of Luck by three-quarter of a length and has more wins to come, according to Cheng.

Few fruit more closely typify China to the foreigner than the lychee (Litchi chinensis). Lychees have been cultivated in China since at least the Tang dynasty (AD618-907). The fruit was especially favoured by Yang Guifei, the beautiful consort with whom the Tang Emperor Xuanzong was besotted.
