P & O Containers has issued an international edition of its widely acclaimed The Merchants Guide.

The book contains information and advice on virtually every aspect of documentation and liability from an international viewpoint.

P & O offices receive quality certificate

P & O Containers' offices in Hamburg, Bremen and Frankfurt have received a ISO 9002 certificate from Lloyd's Register for Quality Assurance (LRQA).

They are the first deep-sea international transportation operators in Germany to obtain this quality assurance award under ISO 9002 system.

New P & O sailings

P & O Containers will start a new independent container service between the UK and North Europe and the East Mediterranean on January 1.

Three vessels, each with a capacity of 538 20-ft containers, will operate on a 27-day cycle, sailing every nine days.

Ports of call will be Tilbury, Rotterdam, Pireaus, Izmir, Thessaloniki and back to Tilbury.

Latest P & O liner to set cruise standards

THE London-based P & O Shipping Line has ordered its largest and most innovative cruise ship.

The 77,000 tonne super-liner, to be named Sun Princess, will be delivered in December 1995 and join the line's worldwide cruise fleet of 14 ships operating in North America, Europe and the western Pacific.

New vessel for Asia

P & O Containers put its new vessel the Newport Bay - the third of four container ships built in Japan - into service last month on the Europe-Asia route.

The 292 metre vessel, which has a 4,038 20 ft equivalent units (TEUs) capacity, is one of the largest vessels in the P&O's fleet.

The first three containerships were built by IHI, Kure Shipyard.
