Polish police detained a 58-year-old man after he threw vials of black paint at the Black Madonna of Czestochowa, an ancient Catholic icon of the Virgin Mary believed to work miracles.

World-class city should not allow its elderly to languish in helpless indignity

I visited an elderly relative in a Kowloon care home and was appalled by the conditions.

Granted there was a certain degree of cleanliness, but I was struck by the suffocating and pervasive stench of stale excrement.

Flower power

What you'll need:

Thick paper

Drinking straws

Wool

Scissors

Paint, marker pens, glitter

Steps:

1. Draw lots of flowers on thick paper and cut them out.

2. Decorate the flowers with paint, marker pens or glitter.

3. Poke a tiny hole in the centre of each flower.

Dandy & Dapper

I collect trainers. I've found that Hong Kong cobblers can fix leather shoes and more formal stuff but they look confused (and sometimes angry) when I bring my trainers to be fixed or modified and I can't find anywhere that sells stuff to do this at home. Help?
