Sai Wan site step closer to parkland

A private enclave on Sai Kung's remote and scenic Tai Long Wan coast could be incorporated into the surrounding country park early next year, after government advisers endorsed the proposal.

Gi runs to third title over 15km

Record holder just keeps getting better

Gi Ka-man beat a field of more than 1,300 runners as he clinched his third consecutive men's overall title in record time at the Hong Kong 15km Challenge last Sunday.

Organised by the Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association (HKAAA), the race was held at Pak Tam Chung Park, Sai Kung.

Would-be tree smuggler arrested

A suspected tree smuggler was arrested after a scuffle with police who were trying to stop him from stealing two wild incense trees in Sai Kung. A villager called police after seeing two suspected illegal immigrants chopping trees near Lady MacLehose Holiday Village, Pak Tam Chung, at about 10.45am. One man scuffled with a policeman but was overpowered. The other man fled.

A plague on developers' greed in Sai Kung

I wished words would sometimes jump out of the page like the screamer from Edward Munch's picture. That's how I felt when I read about the insidious way in which a planning application in Sai Kung was being smuggled through. Everything to do with this application stank. The litany makes nauseous reading.

A minibus is forced off the road at the start of yesterday's Thaiquain Cup in Pak Tam Chung as 600 runners vie for honours in the first local road race after the summer break. Mark Williams, a teacher, shrugged off the lingering effects of a virus to win the 10km race in 35 minutes and 40 seconds.

Junior runners prepare for gruelling race

Schoolboy distance runner Lau Kwong-man and other juniors will compete in the gruelling Reebok 15km race on Sunday morning in Sai Kung.

Kwong-man, who will be among the favourites to take the junior title, will be challenged by All-Hong Kong Schools (Jing Ying) cross-country champion Cheung Man-ming and athletics ace Lau Tak-leung.

Walkathon aims to raise $1m for school

Organisers are hoping that a walkathon and a 5km Fun Run in Pak Tam Chung near Sai Kung this Saturday will help raise $1 million for the construction of a school's first building.

The International Christian School (ICS) in Kowloon City will be the beneficiary of this event, which is open to the public. Last year, the event raised $600,000.
