Rider falls during training

An unnamed Paralympic rider fell from his horse during training yesterday morning and was sent to Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin for treatment. The Equestrian Company said later the rider had been discharged from hospital but refused to disclose further details, including whether the athlete would withdraw from competition.

100,000 police on Paralympic duty

Beijing will adopt the same security measures during the Paralympics as for the Olympics, even though it is a much smaller event, Xinhua said. More than 100,000 police officers would be deployed across the capital, and security squads would be stationed at 17 competition venues, 29 training bases and 16 designated hotels, Zhu Yijun, a senior police officer said.

City turns 'handicap-friendly'
