SIMON and Garfunkel's only Asian appearance on their Together Again mini-world tour was a sell-out, with 8,000 fans in Singapore paying the highest local ticket prices ever to attend the concert at the Indoor Stadium last Sunday night.

But that gig should have been in Hong Kong. The Arena Group was all set to stage it here, however the duo refused to perform at Happy Valley.

Paul still a friend after all Art's hurt

ART Garfunkel says Paul Simon is his friend for life, even though his former singing and songwriting partner hurt him by diminishing his contributions through the years.

Among other things, Simon erased Garfunkel's vocals from the 1983 Hearts and Bones disc that was intended to be a reunion record.

Stars unite to help the children

SIMON and Garfunkel played such hits as Sounds of Silence and Bridge Over Troubled Water in a benefit that raised US$1 million (HK$7.73 million) for the Los Angeles Children's Health Project.

Neil Young also performed and Steve Martin offered comedy between sets. Celebrities in the audience included Jack Nicholson, Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger.
