The ups and downs of scientific research

It was an honour Robert Furchgott had never wanted and increasingly grew frustrated with in his later years - as a saviour of men, or rather manhood. The US pharmacologist, who died last month aged 92, is often, incorrectly, credited as the 'father of Viagra'.

Ahem, doc, I'd like to know, um, can I 'do it' in space?

Like everyone else, I have been glued to news reports about the arrest of love-struck US astronaut Lisa Nowak (right) for attempted kidnapping and murder and wondering whether sex in space is possible and, if so, whether it would be any good.
