New World mulls bid for Yuen Long site

Henry Cheng Kar-shun, the managing director of New World China and New World Development, said the group is interested in bidding for a Yuen Long site set to be released for tender next month, despite his projection of a drop in property prices by some 10 per cent in the short run. Cheung Kong Real Estate director William Kwok said the future is still bright for the property market.

Yuen to direct new movie

Is Yuen Wo-ping (right) planning a return to the director's chair? According to a Beijing newspaper, the answer is yes. The Matrix trilogy and Kill Bill action choreographer reportedly has his sights on a movie called Chang Cheng (tentative English title, The Great Wall) about nomadic Huns invading an independent Chinese tribe around the time of the Qin dynasty.

Chan movie debut set for Toronto

Just got word that Jackie Chan's new film, The Myth, directed by Stanley Tong Kwai-lai, will have its world premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival on September 15. Chan and co-star Tony Leung Kai-fai play archaeologists who stumble on an undiscovered mausoleum that transports Chan's character back to his dark past as a Qin Dynasty general.
