New fibre for bulletproof vests twice as resistant: researchers

Researchers at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology have unveiled a fibre they say can make bulletproof vests stronger and lighter.

They created the fibre by combining a thermoplastic substance called ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) with long, thin cylinders of carbon known as nanotubes.
