Office market in Perth, Brisbane to slump, bank says

Vacancies in Perth's central business district will surge to 17.5 per cent in the next three years from 6.5 per cent now, and in Brisbane will soar by about 10 percentage points to 23 per cent, analysts led by Lou Pirenc wrote in a note this week.

Father rushes to Perth after killing

A businessman in Hong Kong has rushed home to Australia after his eight-year-old daughter was raped and killed in a shopping centre in Perth.

Police in Western Australia said the father of Sofia Rodriguez-Urrutia-Shu was on a working visit to Hong Kong, where he had business interests and from where he had emigrated 'many years ago'.

A series of information sessions with Australian tertiary institutions will be held in Hong Kong over the next three weeks. Participating institutions include La Trobe University, University of Queensland and Perth Institute of Business and Technology.

There will also be a seminar for Form Five to Seven students who are interested in pursuing an education in Australia.
