Office market in Perth, Brisbane to slump, bank says

Vacancies in Perth's central business district will surge to 17.5 per cent in the next three years from 6.5 per cent now, and in Brisbane will soar by about 10 percentage points to 23 per cent, analysts led by Lou Pirenc wrote in a note this week.

Father rushes to Perth after killing

A businessman in Hong Kong has rushed home to Australia after his eight-year-old daughter was raped and killed in a shopping centre in Perth.

Police in Western Australia said the father of Sofia Rodriguez-Urrutia-Shu was on a working visit to Hong Kong, where he had business interests and from where he had emigrated 'many years ago'.

Three firebombs in the course of one hour. Swastikas left on the walls of Chinese restaurants across town from each other. Yesterday's attacks in Perth appear organised and calculated to inflict terror in the Asian community there. They should be condemned in the strongest of terms, most particularly by Australia's local and national leaders.
