Ng's patience pays off as gelding lives up to promise

Gold Racer followed his impressive debut show with a win at his second start, continuing the strong season for trainer Peter Ng Bik-kuen, whose patience has made the difference with the four-year-old. Ng's new recruit makes the most of a list of firsts to return a winner

It was a list of firsts for four-year-old Excellent Win as he continued Peter Ng Bik-kuen's sizzling start to the season in the first race and the trainer himself reduced the result to its basics. 'He got a class drop in the handicaps and I got him fit - simple as that,' said Ng, who moved into double figures for a season just two months old.
