Miner sees listing cancelled

The Philippine Stock Exchange said yesterday it has cancelled the listing of Marcopper Mining Corp, which was forced to halt operations after a massive mine spill two years ago. Exchange president Jose Luis Yulo said Marcopper failed to pay the fee required to maintain its listing.

Lorenzo sinks

Shares of Lorenzo Shipping Corp sank as much as 13.9 per cent on their trading debut on the Philippine Stock Exchange, weighed down by concern over profit at maritime companies.

Lorenzo's shares plunged as much as 0.86 peso from their offering price of 5.96 pesos. They recovered to 5.90 pesos in the final minutes of trading.

March date for merging Manila's exchanges

THE president of the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) has set next month as the deadline for the merger of the Manila and Makati stock exchanges.

Eduardo de los Angeles said elections for PSE office-bearers would be held next month and the Government would revoke the licences of the present exchanges once these were completed.
