Two plead not guilty to beating SCMP photographer

Two men charged with beating a South China Morning Post photographer pleaded not guilty in Fanling Court yesterday. Cheng Shing-wing and Li Hak, both aged 51, each face a charge of common assault and will return to court on May 3 and May 6.

Police arrested two men yesterday after a South China Morning Post photographer taking pictures of mainland parallel-goods traders stocking up on milk powder was slapped in the face in a scuffle that left her slightly hurt.

Auschwitz photographer dies aged 95

Wilhelm Brasse, who as a prisoner at Auschwitz was forced to photograph the experiments of Doctor Josef Mengele, died on Tuesday aged 95.

Brasse’s work at the concentration camp also included taking photographs of his fellow inmates for identity cards, resulting in a collection of 39,000 images that survived the war.
