Radical plan supported by rugby boss

A senior Hong Kong Rugby Football Union (HKRFU) official yesterday endorsed the idea of a national squad member being picked for the position of Referee Development Officer.

However, Pieter Schats, chief executive officer of the HKRFU, stressed that no decision had been made on the contentious issue, which has led to a threat of strike action by local referees.

Good times return as Valley take HK crown

VALLEY revived the glory days when they became Hong Kong rugby union champions for the third time at Happy Valley yesterday.

A resounding 31-11 victory over nearest rivals Kowloon gave Valley an unassailable 11-point lead at the top of the First Division with two matches remaining.

Schats try kills off Club

VALLEY loosened Hong Kong Football Club's grip on the championship trophy with an action-packed 27-11 First Division victory at Happy Valley last night.

Fly-half Pieter Schats, who stepped off a plane from Vietnam hours before the match, scored the crucial try from an interception in the second half to end Club's fierce second-half comeback.

Club fall to Valley again

VALLEY scored their third win of the season over fallen champions Hong Kong Football Club with a 25-14 First Division victory at Sports Road last night.

Two late second-half tries reversed a 14-11 deficit as Valley, with two titles this season, passed their first major test of the league campaign.
