Honesty best policy

Honesty is essential to maintain a friendship. Sometimes, being honest may mean saying a thing that is not pleasant, but is necessary for getting along well with your friends.

Design house squeals like a stuck piggy bank over FedEx lookalike

The folks at China Stylus aren't too pleased with FedEx at the moment. In January, the design studio produced a quaint paper fold-out piggy bank with the idea that in the Year of the Pig, people could save their coins for charity.

Miss Piggy under notice yet again

Miss Piggy must surely oblige for his patient trainer Wong Tang-ping before the end of the season.

The eight-year-old son of north of England stallion Crofthall has gone into the notebook on a number of occasions this season, usually staying on in races which were not quite suitable for him as he's proved a devil of a job to place.

Horse racing

He may be out of the running for this year's championship, but former kingpin Brian Kan Ping-chee can still land some quality victories, writes Robin Parke. That was the case in yesterday's very open seventh event where Super Goal Star (5-1) eventually spread-eagled the field under Anton Marcus to win the nine-runner, Class Two event over 1,600 metres.

Return of the big guns

Take a chance on a couple of outsiders at this afternoon's Sha Tin fixture with Bruce Hutchison's Senator and the Wong Tang-ping-trained Miss Piggy capable of running good races at big odds in the concluding events.

Wong has a couple of winners up his sleeve

Wong Tang-ping has a stable packed full of talent and two of them stood out in last night's feature event - the Hong Kong University Alumni Association Challenge Cup.

Miss Piggy was the first of them with apprentice Win Chung looking unable to get to the bottom of him as he appeared to hang in slightly over the last 200 metres or so.

Choi gets a chance to shine for Ping

MISS Piggy is well placed to improve upon a last-start third placing when tackling the sixth event at Sha Tin today, writes Robin Parke.

Icons of our times

OCCUPATION: Icon. The pig means so much in Chinese culture that it has been elevated above the status of a mere hygiene-challenged quadruped.

Partners set for success

PUT Success Partners very firmly down in the book of future winners - this one will definitely oblige.

For the second time in as many starts this season, the three-year-old Irish import flew home from a position well back to snatch fifth place. Last night it was in the second event, a Class Four short sprint on equitrack which is not where he will be winning.

Ping's season in the sun gains momentum

ASTUTE local handler Wong Tang-ping is enjoying one of the best seasons of his distinguished career.

He has sent out 31 winners and is only five behind leader, Patrick Biancone, in the race for training honours which more and more looks to concern just these two plus the in-form John Moore.

Allan in Vase double show

WONDERFUL WAY galloped his way into the International Vase picture with an impressive four-length success in the Royal Hong Kong Golf Club Cup at Sha Tin on Saturday.

With no data to directly formulate a standard time for the 2,400-metre trip, it is impossible to be adamant about the exact worth of the performance on the clock.

Cruz brothers aim to turn over New Leaf

FORMER champion jockey Tony Cruz stole the Saturday night show at Sha Tin with a treble and he can continue in that winning vein in the first leg of the Double Trio when racing returns to Happy Valley tomorrow night.

Cruz partners New Leaf for trainer-brother Derek and the duo have been hitting the high spots recently with several good winners.

Miss Piggy should bring home bacon

SOUTH African riding star Felix Coetzee can continue his tremendous burst of form by taking the sixth event with Wong Tang-ping's Miss Piggy at Sha Tin this afternoon.

Ping has turned to Coetzee a couple of times in the past for significant bookings such as Northern Fire Ball and his engagement for Miss Piggy can be taken as a sign of stable confidence.

Piggy one to bank on soon

STAYER Miss Piggy put in a top run in the final event last night and is primed now for a win over a suitable distance at Sha Tin.

Miss Piggy finished third at his first run of the season and he really seems to have found his feet in Hong Kong. This strong run over an unsuitable distance on equitrack marked him down as one to be on very soon.
