9 in court over faulty piling

Nine people faced charges of conspiracy to defraud, accepting advantages and deception at Eastern Court over faulty piling at a project in Yuen Long. No pleas were entered. The case was adjourned to November 22.

Work suspended over faulty piling

CONSTRUCTION work on two 31-storey blocks of flats has been suspended in what housing chiefs have described as the latest fraud and corruption racket involving faulty piling.

Piling on the two Home Ownership Scheme blocks near Ngau Pei Sha Street in Sha Tin was found to be 13 and 10 metres shorter than required.

Faulty piling at third housing project

Another case of faulty piling has been discovered at a housing project, the third in six months.

Foundation work at a project in Yau Tong Estate, Lam Tin, was found to be substandard, delaying the projects by six months. This pushes completion of 3,500 homes back to early 2002.
