Resident artist passes on some sticky skills

The brave volunteer allowed Louise Soloway, Artist-in-Residence for the British Council, to demonstrate her unusual technique of working.

Items seized

CUSTOMS officers seized more than 12,000 items of Chinese medicine believed to contain substances controlled under (protection of endangered species) laws at the China ferry terminal yesterday. The seizure included 9,960 pieces of musk and tiger bone analgesic plasters, 1,194 pills, 834 bottles of oil for rheumatism and 440 kidney-strengthening pills, and was worth about $28,500.

Experimenting with art

LYING on the table like a patient about to be operated on, Kwan Mei-sze could hardly control her excitement at the thought of what was to come upon her face - a wet layer of bandage filled with plaster - which would harden into a mask with all her facial contours in a few minutes!
