PLA murder probe officer gets top job

The police official heading a probe into the murder of a People's Liberation Army guard outside a garrison in Chongqing was named public security chief of the southwestern municipality yesterday.

Wang Lijun's promotion to Public Security Bureau director was endorsed by the municipality's people's congress yesterday, according to a local official who declined to be named.

Zhang Guoguang

The Party Secretary of Shenyang, Zhang Guoguang, has been promoted to become chief economic adviser to Liaoning province's long-serving party chief, Wen Shizhen.

Mr Zhang has been replaced by Xu Wencai, who formerly served as party secretary of Tieling city in Liaoning and who has been a member of the provincial committee for five years.

Governor blasts at corrupt officials

THE Governor of Liaoning has attacked provincial departments for being inefficient, corrupt and narrow-minded.

Wen Shizhen told a provincial meeting the image of the entire administration would be tarnished by malpractice, although the problems were found in only a few departments.
