Top time could be bettered

DENNIS Wong's three-year-old record will be on the line at this month's Heineken Round The Island Race.

Wong took two hours, 41 minutes and 57 seconds to circumnavigate Hong Kong Island on his Hobie Cat 21 in 1990. But that time could be under threat on November 28 as more than 200 boats sail off for the territory's largest domestic sailing event.

ALL-WEATHER performer Intrigue, Dr Ian Nicholson's Banner 41, took top handicap honours in the Aberdeen Boat Club-DHL Regatta yesterday in Lamma Channel, the traditional opening event of the yachting season.

Light craft given their chance in Typhoon

A FLEET of about 40 yachts are expected to contest the first round of the annual Fosters Typhoon Series in the Port Shelter area today.

The seven-race series organised by the Hebe Haven Yacht Club features three divisions allowing a wide range of craft to compete on an equal footing.
