Promenade

Letters to the Editor, April 3, 2013

My family thoroughly enjoyed our Easter weekend excursion along the new Central waterfront promenade. What a shame that we were chased by three security officials who instructed my children that they were not allowed to ride their tricycles along the walkway.

Tamar blues

Have you seen the Tamar exhibition? It is well worth a look, to test your own alertness to fact versus fiction. There are four large models of the new government office complex, replete with drawings and even videos, in the lobby of the Queensway Government Offices. They give the public a chance to see what the four consortia bidding for the design-and-build project have put forward.

Tepid response to Grand Promenade

An aggressive marketing campaign for Henderson Land Development's Grand Promenade in Sai Wan Ho has failed to generate significant sales, with only eight units sold since the project was relaunched.

The developer on Sunday relaunched the sale of 18 Grand Promenade flats at an average of $7,200 per square foot.

Shaky foundations

Although an independent panel says the former buildings chief Leung Chin-man made a mistake in controversial concessions granted at Grand Promenade, it absolved him of blame. Who, then, should be held responsible? Write to us

Area cleaned up

I refer to Karen Carkeek's letter headlined 'Criminal act' (South China Morning Post, March 20), concerning barbecue remnants at Sea View Promenade, Repulse Bay.

Groping in the park

A FRIEND of mine has just finished marking A-level English Literature examination papers. They feature Hongkong students' views on the set text, D. H. Lawrence's Sons and Lovers - a definite hostage to critical fortune in this sexual climate, as my friend discovered.

Normal, healthy behaviour

SO Reena Prem Khua (South China Morning Post, May 11) thinks that for young couples to hug, embrace and kiss in a park is shameful. It seems to me these things are about as normal, healthy and innocent as you can get. Young couples, after all, have been doing it for at least two million years.

Site under close observation

I WRITE in response to the letter headlined, ''Lovely promenade being ruined'' (South China Morning Post, April 19), concerning refuse and building materials discarded along the seaview promenade from Repulse Bay to Deep Water Bay.

Lovely promenade being ruined

I AM appalled by the amount of rubbish and building material left along the seaview promenade from Repulse Bay to Deepwater Bay. This walk is one of our most beautiful seaside walks and it is being devastated.
