Proview International has avoided delisting from the Hong Kong stock exchange, following a review of the company's proposed initiative to jump-start its operations.

Troubled history of China's 'iPAD' maker

Hong Kong-based Proview International Holdings was established in 1989, and owns Proview Electronics in Taiwan and Proview Technology in Shenzhen, and it claims to have created the 'iPAD', with capitalised letters, differing slightly from Apple's 'iPad'.

Proview International Holdings, one of the world's top five display device producers, boosted attributable profit to HK$73.27 million for the half to December 31 from HK$19.97 million a year earlier on the back of strong exports. Turnover jumped 47.8 per cent to a record HK$3.35 billion. An interim dividend of 1.7 HK cents was proposed against none previously.

Earnings lift for computer firm

Computer equipment and parts maker Proview International Holdings has announced a 53.6 per cent year on year rise in after-tax interim profit to $71.48 million for the six months to December 31. Turnover climbed 45 per cent to $1.45 billion.

Listing candidate Proview International Holdings, which manufactures computer monitors, says its issue of 130 million shares has been 115 times subscribed. The company will debut on June 18.
