Police yesterday seized 1,500 cannabis plants and equipment used to speed up their growth from what they said was the city's biggest marijuana nursery.

Trafficker sent to treatment centre

A man was sentenced to a drug-addiction treatment centre for cultivating cannabis and trafficking in the drug. Li Kwan-yat, 38, pleaded guilty in the District Court to one count of cultivating cannabis and was convicted of two counts of trafficking. The court was told that on January 24 customs officers found 268 cannabis plants weighing 8.2kg when they raided Li's Fo Tan workshop.

Police cannabis raids net two suspected masterminds

Police believe they have smashed a major cannabis distributor after officers arrested two suspects and seized about 49kg of cannabis buds worth HK$6.86 million yesterday.

The operation, which came after a month-long investigation, saw more than 50 officers descend on two drug premises in Tsuen Wan and Yuen Long shortly before 4pm.

Customs seize 2.6kg of cannabis, arrest two men

Updated at 7.15pm: Customs officers on Saturday seized 2.6 kilograms of herbal cannabis in a speed post package at the airport and arrested two men, a government spokesman said on Wednesday.

The cannabis, worth $170,000, was detected at the Airmail Centre when officers inspected a speed post parcel from Ghana with x-rays and found it suspicious.

Three people are arrested for having $400,000 worth of the drug on their roof

Customs officers yesterday raided a marijuana-growing operation being run on the roof of a Tai Po house.

Thirty-eight plants worth an estimated $400,000 were seized. A woman, her husband and his brother were arrested.
