The Hong Kong Civic Association has noted from the media that the chief executive has been actively looking around the SAR for suitable sites for public housing. Also in regard to future Home Ownership Scheme (HOS) flats, he will be addressing this issue in his October Legislative Council policy address.

Housing estates plunged into darkness

A suspected technical fault at a China Light and Power substation triggered a fire and cut the power supply to several estates in Tseung Kwan O last night for up to 45 minutes. The fire in Po Lam Lane affected estates including Metro City, Verbena Heights, the Pinnacle, Well On Garden, Po Lam and Tsui Lam. Calls for assistance were received from residents stranded in stopped lifts.

Bidder pledges to leave visual corridor on site

A developer interested in bidding for a Tseung Kwan O residential site today has answered an environmental group's call in promising to leave a visual corridor on the site to avoid wall-like buildings.

The unnamed developer told Green Sense it would identify itself before the auction starts.

Police searching for missing 15-year-old girl

Updated at 5.27pm: Police on Monday appealed to the public to provide information on the whereabouts of a 15-year-old girl reported missing in Tseung Kwan O.

A spokesman said the missing girl's name is Leung Ching.

Leung Ching was last seen at her home in Hau Tak Estate, Tseung Kwan O on May 24. She was later report missing by her mother.

Husband attacks wife with hammer during row

A woman was in critical condition in Queen Elizabeth Hospital yesterday after her husband attacked her with a hammer at their Tseung Kwan O home, police said.

The woman, 31, was found lying in a pool of blood on the floor when police officers arrived at the flat at Wo Yat House in Wo Ming Court at 10.30am. She had suffered serious head injuries.

Updated at 1.35pm: A new post office opened on Monday in Choi Ming Shopping Centre in Tseung Kwan O, Hongkong Post said.

The new Choi Ming Post Office has brought the total number of branch post offices in Hong Kong to 133.

Boy, 12, leaps to his death at shopping centre

A 12-year-old jumped to his death from a shopping centre in Tseung Kwan O after being caught by his parents skipping lessons.

Liu Cheuk-yin, a Form One pupil at Tang Ying Hei College, left the family's home on the Sheung Tak Estate in Tseung Kwan O at 8am, saying he was going to school, but a teacher phoned at 9am to say he had not arrived.
