A seven-year-old mainland boy who had been in Hong Kong just 24 hours plunged to his death from a public-housing block yesterday after he ran ahead of his mother, got into a lift alone and pressed the button to the 31st floor.

Man charged with murder of his father

A 27-year-old man was charged with one count of murder yesterday over the death of his 65-year-old father in Tuen Mun. The man was arrested on Saturday after his father was confirmed dead at Tuen Mun Hospital. The father had been found collapsed inside the family's flat in King Wah House, Shan King Estate, and taken to the hospital. The son will appear in Tuen Mun Court today.

Woman knifed to death

A woman died in hospital last night after suffering multiple knife wounds in her Tuen Mun flat.

The woman, 47, surnamed Kwok, was found lying in a pool of blood by her husband when he returned from work to the flat in King Wah House on Shan King Estate at 7.30pm.

Scheme will help tenants buy public estate flats

Public housing tenants will be able to buy their rental flats for as little as $57,000 under a scheme announced yesterday.

A Housing Authority committee decided to put 25,000 rental flats on sale, terminate a home loan scheme and turn 7,600 temporary units into public housing.
