Olympic bronze-medallist boxer Vijender Singh was on Tuesday cleared by the Indian sports ministry of using banned substances following a police charge that he consumed heroin.

Indian Olympic bronze-medallist boxer Vijender Singh has undergone dope tests as ordered by the government after police accused him of consuming heroin, officials said.

Vijender, who won a bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, gave his blood and urine samples to the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) on Wednesday, sports minister Jitender Singh said.
