Players' support helps keep Rambo in a job

TSW Pegasus produced an unusual candidate for save of the season yesterday as head coach Ricardo Rambo was spared the axe after his players petitioned club management on his behalf.

The entire squad signed a letter of support for the Brazilian to be kept in his post after the smart money earlier in the day had him earmarked for the chop.

Explosions and politics

In Shooter, an honest man single-handedly takes on the evil of the world with a gun. It's a hybrid of Rambo and Clint Eastwood. It's angry and political.

In short, it's a super cool action vehicle.

Mark Wahlberg plays Swagger, a skilful Marine sniper who retires after his partner is killed in a mission, and the army abandons him.

Rambo rescue

Rambo: First Blood II (World, 9.30pm) is only a movie, and it is always dangerous to credit movies with doing anything other than entertaining, or appalling, the movie-going public. But the film certainly didn't do anything to help US-Vietnamese relations, which when it came out in 1985 were still terrible.

Exit Rambo

There is definitely something strange going on with tonight's schedules.

This time last week, ATV were blasting trailers for the upcoming Monday night Rambo season, which was supposed to start tonight with First Blood, the original Rambo movie.

As of Saturday, it appears Rambo hasn't quite been able to fight his way on to our screens after all.
