The perils of the rescue and salvage mission on a sunken tugboat off Tuen Mun were underscored yesterday when two divers were caught in dangerous situations on a day when the first two bodies were recovered.

Deep, dark and dangerous

AT 15 METRES below the surface of Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour the visibility in the heavily polluted water is an eery zero and the surroundings throb with vibrations from the surface traffic above. Submerged below the frigid waters of Russia's Sakhalin Island the powerful currents can disorient and dislodge an unwary diver.
