Youth orchestra members live on love of music - and get sent to the showers

The image of the starving artist isn't far from what some members of the Asian Youth Orchestra are experiencing these days. Obviously, for the 100-plus youngsters, it's a love of music that's driving them to audition and join Richard Pontzious' respected orchestra, since they receive no pay (although their accommodation, meals, transport and tuition are covered).

Big opportunity for stage fans

The drama is part of this year's International Arts Carnival, which starts in July.

Dancing on the Dune, a story about a group of teenagers, combines live stage performance and video.

PLA silenced by stadium noise restrictions

The might of the PLA was no match for Hong Kong Stadium directors yesterday as they banned the soldiers from an early morning rehearsal for National Day celebrations.

About 650 soldiers were told they could not rehearse between 7am and 9am today because they would disturb sleeping residents.
