A two-year-old chow chow bitch fell into the harbour near Watson Road at Fortress Hill at 2am on Monday. It suffered no serious injuries and was rescued by police. There was no ID chip on the dog and its owner should claim it on or before Thursday, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals says. A charity that has been saving abandoned dogs now has to find a way to rescue itself after its landlord issued an ultimatum ordering it to leave the site in three months.

A man, 45, dived into the sea to rescue one of his chow puppies that fell as he walked it with two other dogs along the waterfront in Watson Road, North Point.
