Bronchitis findings

A survey by the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation of 120 chronic bronchitis and emphysema patients found that 80 per cent of the group had been smoking for more than 30 years and smoked at least one packet of cigarettes per day. Over half of them have to visit hospital for treatment. The society urged patients to do more exercise.

Other factors have impact on local rates of cancer

We refer to the story on a Friends of the Earth report (South China Morning Post, November 11), which claims that pollution in the Pearl River Delta has been responsible for sending 'Hong Kong's rates of cancer and respiratory illnesses soaring'. This is very misleading.
