It's been a fabulous first season for rookie trainer Ricky Yiu and he can already start looking forward to a ready-made winner next campaign in the imposing shape of Professionalkiller. By the English 2,000 Guineas winner, Shadeed, Professionalkiller was noticeably inexperienced as he came out of the gates yesterday.

Sunflower to shine in TT's first leg

Sunflower can get punters off to a bright start in the third event which opens tomorrow night's Triple Trio races at Happy Valley.

Glory still to be had from Moore's charge

Asian Glory was the subject of a stewards' inquiry two starts ago over 1,400 metres at Sha Tin and last night found the Valley mile inadequate. All the same, the way the John Moore-trained five-year-old hit the line in the fourth event won well by Classic Boy, there is a race to be won.

First-season sensation has Killer plan

Excellent first-season handler Ricky Yiu could be back on the scoresheet again this Sunday at Sha Tin given the way that Cold Killer has shaped since joining his stable. Yiu, generally, has been in splendid form ever since Cosmolife opened his training account at the start of the season, but he peaked at the city track on Wednesday night when saddling his first treble.

Yiu chases local honours with Valley treble

First-season trainer Ricky Yiu underlined that he is one of the finds of recent years with a fantastic treble at last night's Happy Valley meeting. Yiu, who started the season with just nine horses as he waited anxiously for 10 new ones to arrive, scored with Everbright in the local riders' affair, Bicycle in the fifth and Laser Star in the final race to record his 27-1 three-timer.

Everbright can kick Yiu to double figures

IMPRESSIVE first-season trainer Ricky Yiu can enter double figures for the season with Everbright in the second event on tonight's Happy Valley card. Yiu has made just about the brightest starts of any of the young local handlers in recent years with the exception of Derek Cruz. Gary Ng, Stephen Leung and Andy Leung have all done well, but Yiu has achieved the most.
