I suppose the main reason for the Peak Tower receiving criticism for charging entry to its observation deck is simple - the company has not imposed such a charge before.

Viewing charges of cityscapes in international cities around the world do not come cheap.

They have scant regard for traffic lights, they just amble through. They devour bus and cycle lanes, and annoyingly turn left without signalling. They are colour-blind to double yellow and red lines. They never pay parking meters yet they hog spaces all day.

What are they? Roadworks. The perennial bugbear of city dwellers and motorists the world over.

CKI in talks with banks on $107b Thames Water bid

Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings has been in talks with investment banks and possible co-investors about a possible GBP8 billion ($107 billion) offer for Thames Water of Britain.

The company is understood to have held talks with Borealis, a pension fund in Canada, about making a joint bid for Thames Water, which is owned by RWE of Germany, according to the Sunday Times.
