Robbers bound and gagged a security guard in a locked container and might have poisoned seven dogs before escaping with HK$200,000 worth of electrical cables from a godown in Ta Kwu Ling early yesterday.

Robbers foiled after bomb threat

Five robbers threatened to bomb a trading company with a grenade before binding and gagging five employees in a raid yesterday.

The robbers were attempting to steal hard disks valued at $1 million, but had to flee empty-handed after the victims freed themselves from their bonds and called police.

Two men rob trader of $1m in diamonds

Two men stole diamonds worth an estimated $1 million from the owner of a trading company in Kwai Chung yesterday morning.

The 30-year-old proprietor of the business, which distributes diamonds and shoes, told police that two men in their 20s knocked on the door between 8am and 9am.

Police rescue three hostages in armed robbery at bird's nest shop

Police broke up an armed robbery at a bird's nest shop in Western District yesterday, arresting five men after a brief hostage incident.

But a search later revealed that about $800,000 worth of the highly prized nests were missing.

A police spokeswoman said: 'We believe some accomplices managed to steal the bird's nest before police arrived.

Police are hunting for three robbers who tried to steal two cash boxes containing $2.35 million in Mongkok yesterday but fled empty-handed after chopping a guard in the leg with an axe.

The raiders - one carrying a revolver, one an axe - were forced to leave the cash at the scene after one of the booby-trapped boxes sprayed red dye, police said.
