Owners wound up by 'scratches' on Rolexes

Owners of Rolex watches have found mysterious codes inscribed on the bracelet after having them serviced at the official repair centre.

Some were told by staff the marks were required for technical reasons.

Owners fear that the mysterious codes, which appeared to be scratched by hand, had defaced their watches and affected the resale value.

Teenager gets 7 years for stealing two Rolex watches

A teenager yesterday admitted stealing two Rolex watches worth HK$291,250 and HK$161,000 last year. Two accomplices also pleaded guilty to the theft involving the more expensive Rolex.

Chan Ching-man, 19, the youngest of three defendants, was jailed for seven years on two counts of theft, committed in April and May, and for possession of an air pistol.

A robber who tricked his way into the London holiday home of a Hong Kong judge and stole her gold Rolex watch has been jailed for four years..

Madame Justice Betty Kwan Ka-ching, 55, a deputy registrar of the High Court, blacked out during the attack, in which she was followed from a shopping centre to her flat last June, a London court heard this week.
