The first meeting to be held under Chinese rule couldn't have started in better fashion.

The top-grade, HKSAR Chief Executive's Cup opened the eight-race card at Happy Valley on Saturday, and Kowloon Pride produced a winning performance to match the historic occasion, clocking a record time of one minute and 9.7 seconds for the 1,200-metre trip.
