Killing with HK link shocks Vancouver

The murder of a 45-year-old Chinese man, husband of a prominent property agent and former beauty queen from Hong Kong, has shocked the Chinese community in Vancouver, Canada.

The man, a car salesman, was shot dead early on Saturday morning, killed by multiple shots at short range, as he sat in his white Cadillac outside his home in east Vancouver.

No regrets over youth spent wisely

There is a saying: 'You are only young once.' However, if it is spent wisely there is no need to regret anything. School gives us a lot of unforgettable memories, some happy, some sad. But I treasure them all.

'In youth we run into difficulties, in old age difficulties run into us.' Challenges always come and knock on our door throughout our lives. Studying is one of them.

Only wanting a little respect

I REFER to the letter from Sandy Wong (South China Morning Post , June 23), regarding her interpretation (or misinterpretation) of a mere visit of the Governor to a maids' shelter and her views on domestic helpers in general. First of all, we are not in some kind of competition with Hong Kong residents regarding our status and the 'contributions' we make to Hong Kong society.

Better social services needed

I TEND to agree with Sandy Wong (South China Morning Post, June 23) that it was inappropriate for the Governor to hail foreign domestic helpers (FDH) as heroines regarding their contribution to Hong Kong.
