Alice McCall

Who created it? Australian-born Alice McCall got her start in the fashion world as a stylist in London, working for publications such as Dazed & Confused and for networks such as MTV London. While working with celebrities including Natalie Imbruglia, Debbie Harry, Marianne Faithfull and Kelis, she began dabbling in fashion design by creating custom pieces for them.

Where? Meaning 'black' in old English, this online boutique is based in Santa Barbara, California.

Who? Jodi McMillen launched Blaec in 1999 after learning how to build a website. She has since established a reputation among the fashion savvy for sourcing unusual clothing - the designers may be familiar, but most of the pieces are not.
