Mayor orders Islamic dress code

The mayor of Tangerang, a suburb of Jakarta, has ordered its civil servants to cover up and wear Islamic dress on Fridays, the Islamic day of worship.

The women will be required to wear Islamic headscarves and loose, arm-covering shirts, and men will have to wear loose-fitting Islamic shirts, said the mayor's spokesman.
