Rumour of the day: Steven Spielberg is reportedly interested in making a film version of the classic Chinese novel Journey To The West. According to some mainland news sources, the director was in Beijing last month and talked with several local film industry members about the idea of a big-budget Hollywood version of the monkey king and his fantasy adventure.

New Jules Verne translation

A new translation of Jules Verne's The Adventures of Captain Hatteras by William Butcher of the Government and International Studies Department of the Hong Kong Baptist University will be out tomorrow.

Dr Butcher is a renowned Jules Verne scholar and his book is the first critical edition and complete translation of the French writer's polar adventure stories.

Jackie to hit the skies
