Bad design led to theme park deaths

Six people died at a Shenzhen amusement park in June because of a bad design that led to a broken bolt, the official investigation has found.

The tragedy happened on the Space Journey ride, similar to a carousel but spinning nearly four times as fast to give riders, strapped in pairs in 12 capsules, the g-force sensation of a rocket's take-off.

Visitor bites on screw while eating cake

A 38-year-old two-way permit holder was sent to hospital after he bit on a screw allegedly hidden in a piece of carrot cake as he ate with a Hong Kong friend in a Mong Kok restaurant yesterday morning. When police arrived at the Chinese-style restaurant in Grand Tower Shopping Centre the men handed over a thumb-sized screw.
