The Amazing World of Dinosaurs display opened on Friday and features 13 dinosaurs, including three that visitors can actually ride.

Computer soccer game given red card

Mainland censors have shown the red card to a computer soccer game from Britain which refers to Hong Kong, Macau, Tibet and Taiwan as countries separate from China.

Even though Football Manager 2005 is not sold on the mainland, officials have warned that anyone selling or renting pirated versions of it can be fined up to 30,000 yuan.

Sega eyes backdoor entry

Japan-based video game-maker Sega Enterprises is in talks to buy into Cheong Ming Holdings in a bid to gain a backdoor listing in Hong Kong, according to sources.

The move would help Sega expand and diversify in the Greater China region, analysts said.

Cheong Ming makes paper cartons and packaging boxes.

Sega to expand game centres

Japan's Sega Enterprises plans to raise the number of directly managed amusement centres in China from about 20 to 100 in three years, a newspaper report said yesterday. The top maker of amusement equipment will invest two billion yen (about HK$133.6 million) in the project, business newspaper Nihon Kogyo Shimbun said.

Full launch for Sega Saturn

Sega Enterprises is to begin full-fledged sales of its 32-bit Sega Saturn game machines in China, Japanese business daily Nihon Keizai Shimbun said. Sega expects to sell 40,000 units in the first year, the paper said. It did not specify when sales would begin but the packaging will be redesigned.

Counterfeiters 'must be jailed'

MAINLAND counterfeiters are funnelling fake goods through Hong Kong because local judges will not throw them in jail, according to a lawyer for computer company Sega.

Shih Yann-loo said yesterday: 'The problem here is they don't view infringement of trademarks as a real criminal offence. They see it as just a white-collar crime.

Sega talks to Japan film firm

VIDEO game giant Sega Enterprises and movie distributor Shochiku Co plan to work together on developing new forms of entertainment.

Sega said one project was a detective film that gave viewers a role.

''Rampo'', in which viewers helped characters make decisions mid-plot, would be released next June, a spokesman said.
