Car owner questioned over loaded gun found by boys

The owner of an abandoned car in which two schoolboys found a semi-automatic pistol loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition was arrested and was being detained by police for questioning last night.

Fake gun discovered

A fake handgun, similar to a Chinese-military issue Black Star semi-automatic, a knife and a pair of gloves were found in a rubbish bin in the car park of a building in Hac Sa district, Macau. Also found were two stolen motor-scooters.

POLICE are hunting for two men suspected of plotting a series of robberies after officers seized a cache of powerful weapons in Mongkok yesterday.

Two semi-automatic rifles with a range of 1.6 kilometres were seized from two illegal immigrants who police said had been hired to commit crimes in the territory.

MACAU police last night detained five men for questioning following the seizure of eight guns and a quantity of ammunition from a flat near the Canidrome. The haul of rifles and handguns included a .45 calibre semi-automatic pistol and a 7.62mm China-made Black Star pistol.

Upgraded weapons course for recruits

A GROUP of police recruits undertook an upgraded weapons course yesterday - the first rookie officers to be trained under a system designed to improve the way they react to dangerous firearms.

Police Training School Deputy Commandant Anthony McLoughlin said the group had completed the first part of the tactical weapons course, usually only offered to specialist units.
