Three people were hurt by a gas blast in the street outside an estate agency in the Wai Cheung Industrial Centre in Shek Pai Tau Road, Tuen Mun, at about 5pm yesterday.

Taxi driver arrested after woman killed

A 63-year-old woman was killed on Ming Kum Road, Tuen Mun, by a Lung Kwu Tan-bound New Territories taxi at about 2pm yesterday. Witnesses said the taxi left the scene after the accident but returned in about 10 minutes, police said. A man, 44, who claimed to be the taxi driver, was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. The taxi hit the woman at the junction of Shek Pai Tau Road.

Police raid floating casino

A barge used as a floating casino in the Aberdeen typhoon shelter was raided by police on Thursday night and 24 people on board were arrested. Police also seized about HK$55,000 in cash and betting chips. The 13 men and 11 women, aged between 20 and 73, were all being questioned.

Trains collide

Twenty-one people suffered minor injuries when two Light Rail Transit trains collided at the junction of Ming Kum Road and Shek Pai Tau Road, Tuen Mun. One woman, 40, was in stable condition in Tuen Mun Hospital.

A six-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being hit by a Light Rail Transit vehicle when he dashed out from Shek Pai LRT station to Ming Kum Road, Tuen Mun.

Vehicle stoned

FOUR youths were arrested for throwing stones at a light rail vehicle near Shek Pai Station, Tuen Mun, yesterday. A train window was damaged in the attack. Station staff saw several youths standing on a footbridge and throwing stones on to the track at about 4 pm. They detained the youths, aged 14 to 16, and handed them over to police.
