TWO runs in the opening event yesterday were worth noting for future reference. Lightly-raced Eighteen Twelve will win soon and Tactics is unlikely to go out at his 70-1 quote next time following a good fourth. Eighteen Twelve finished a gallant third and must come on from this run while Tactics was right behind him, beaten a short head. King Star could be dangerous shortly.

Revitalised Jet Speed can reach the heights

IVAN Allan and Basil Marcus looked decidedly unlucky not to add another win to their highly successful partnership when Jet Speed was caught close to home in yesterday's seventh event.

Jet Speed had not shown anything until yesterday's Classes Five and Six event for stayers over 2,000 metres.
