Moore in no rush to pit victorious White Jade against the top stars

Trainer John Moore will be hoping to at least emulate last year's Panasonic Cup winner with White Jade after the gelding made a one-act affair of the feature yesterday.

Twelve months ago, Thumbs Up landed the Panasonic Cup with 116 pounds, and White Jade (Howard Cheng Yue-tin) was no less impressive as he never looked like losing with just a few pounds less.

Standard restores jadeite's popularity

Hong Kong's first testing standard for jadeite jade, or fei cui, has boosted consumer confidence, which had been rocked by sales of dubious but expensive gemstones.

Launched by the Gemological Association of Hong Kong in August last year, the standard gives clear indications on jadeite's identification and verification, and has been welcomed by the local industry.
