Ken asks: I heard someone say that eating hotpot the night before a sports competition would have negative effects on performance. Is that true?

GM maize found in snack samples

Greenpeace found three snack samples, out of eight tested, contained genetically modified maize - Calbee Grill-A-Corn, Doritos Nacho Cheese and Lady Liberty Cheez Ball. A government review of the voluntary GM food-labelling system is to be announced tomorrow. Greenpeace campaigner Chow Yuen-ping said the snack samples showed the need for a mandatory system.

Hongkongers just can't resist a snack

Hong Kong is a city of snackers, according to a survey that shows 62 per cent of people regularly eat pre-packed snacks. Some 47 per cent said they snacked while watching television, while 14 per cent said they ate snacks whenever they liked. The Nielsen Company polled 1,000 people aged 15 to 54 on the phone in November.

14 pupils sick after eating snack at school

Fourteen primary school pupils suffered suspected food poisoning after eating a snack at a school in Wong Tai Sin yesterday.

The 12 boys and two girls, aged between 10 and 12, were from the same Primary Five class at Ho Lap Primary School in Tsz Lok Estate and all had eaten the same snack - instant fried noodles, according to vice-principal Sui Yee-man.

Banned sweetener found in Japanese snack noodles

Two flavours of a Japanese snack noodle popular with children have been found to contain a banned sweetener.

Tests by the Centre for Food Safety have found corn and salad flavour varieties of Baby Star Snack Noodle contain stevioside, a sweetener banned in the SAR. The samples were taken from the Kowloon City outlet of a snack chain store.
