TV reporter shot dead by sniper in Syria hailed as 'martyr'

A reporter for Syrian state television has been killed while covering an army assault on the rebel stronghold of Qusayr. "The ministry of information... announces that colleague Yara Abbas has been added to the ranks of the martyrs, killed by terrorists near Dabaa airport," north of Qusayr, state media said.

Israeli media said the image was uploaded by 20-year-old sniper Mor Ostrovski to Instagram last week.

The picture, which went viral on the Facebook-owned picture-sharing website before it was removed, shows a child sitting with his back to the sniper's telescope, with its cross hairs on the left side of his head.
