Man suffers eye injury from broken glass

A man suffered an eye injury while trying to fix the bulb of a torch in his Sham Shui Po home yesterday. The 40-year-old put too much pressure on the bulb and smashed it, causing pieces of broken glass to hit his left eye.

Motorcyclist hits monkey

A motorcyclist hit a monkey while riding along Tai Po Road towards Kowloon, near Villa Carlton, yesterday afternoon. Police said the accident occurred shortly after 2pm. The 33-year-old man suffered head and limb injuries. He was treated at Caritas Medical Centre and discharged. The seriously injured monkey was treated by vets but died last night.

Reporter allegedly attacked

Mingpao reporter Wai Wing-hong, who went to a building site on Tat Che Avenue, Kowloon Tong, to report on an accident in which three workers were injured, was allegedly attacked by a construction worker during an argument over whether Wai had to wear a safety helmet to enter the building site. Wai suffered shoulder and arm injuries and was treated at Caritas Medical Centre.

Police hunt suspected killer in guesthouses

Police were searching guesthouses across the city last night for a mainlander suspected of hacking his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend to death in front of her eight-year-old son and elderly mother.

Border crossings were also on high alert for Zhou Xipeng, 42, who arrived from Guizhou on Sunday, the day before the double killing in Shamshuipo.
