Timing of hydrant failure critical

Andrew Fung calls for a check of fire hydrants. Photo: Edward Wong

A discrepancy over when a hydrant system stopped functioning raised further questions over why it took so long to extinguish a blaze last week in Ap Lei Chau.

Avoidable chaos

After the spectacular fireworks display on July 1, like other South Horizons residents I wanted to get home from Wan Chai.

There is one bus with a stop near Immigration Tower which goes to South Horizons. On Sundays and during public holidays New World First Bus's M590 does not run. This makes sense that there are few passengers on those days.

Waste

I have repeatedly written to the Hong Kong Electric Co Ltd (HEC) regarding two irregularities in its Ap Lei Chau plant: The site works contractor is using mechanical equipment for construction works on Sundays and public holidays. This infringes noise pollution regulations.

Long wait

Being a fanatical follower of the English Premier League, I was thrilled to hear that Cable TV was going to show three live games per week from this season.

This was surely a great improvement on TVB Pearl's weekly one hour of highlights.

Lengthy discussions

I REFER to Mr S. K. Lee's letter headlined, 'Noise problem can be solved' (South China Morning Post, October 5).

The present arrangements on bus routeing and bus stops in South Horizons were implemented after lengthy discussions between the South Horizons Management Office, the South Horizons Estate Owners' Committee, bus companies and this department early this year.

Noise problem can be solved

RESIDENTS are finding that living in South Horizons is a real let-down, especially if your flat faces South Horizons Drive, which is the only road through the heart of the estate.

This is because an increasing number of bus routes are being established to serve the estate.

Angry flat owners consider claims against developer for costly handover delays

AFTER being barred from their new homes at The Oasis in Ap Lei Chau for months, thousands of apartment buyers are expecting the developer, Hutchison Whampoa, to tell them soon they can move in.

The proposed hand-over of apartments indicates a months-long row between the developer and the buyers is coming to an end.
